LIS storage module (hv_storvsc) and vHBA feature RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

According to the Feature Set in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn531026.aspx Virtual Fibre Channel should be supported in CentOS. I have CentOS running as  HyperV guest and it works fine for IDE, and SCSI virtual disks. All FC targets however do not work and show the following behaviour:

    1. There are no more than 8 targets allowed per SCSI bus on any vHBA
    2. All FC targets come up with:

Dec  3 12:27:10 XXXXXXX kernel: storvsc: Sense Key : Illegal Request [current]
Dec  3 12:27:10 XXXXXXX kernel: storvsc: Add. Sense: Invalid command operation code
Dec  3 12:27:10 XXXXXXX kernel: sd 4:0:1:1: [sdc] READ CAPACITY failed

I have searched to web up and down but came across only a few hints. From the messages it is apparent that the storvsc driver has difficutlies with devices presented on virtual FC. Can you maybe point me into the right direction?

    Regards, Lars

  • Which specific version of CentOS are you running?  And which version of Hyper-V are you running on?

  • Hello there,

CentOS 6.6 and Hyper-V Server 2012 R2. Pretty much went along with what is marked as supported on technet.
