PS 2010: What column Links(Project Link content type) is required for in default project docs library? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello guys!

    Here is my story:

    I have a PWA. Some time ago, it had a default adress like "http://servername/pwa". There were a project with some docs: "http://servername/pwa/project". Later I configured AAM to make default access to the SharePoint site through its new DNS name: "http://newname/", so the new way to access PWA became "http://newname/pwa", while the old link provided an error.

    And I was pretty happy, until I tried to upload a new document, or to view or edit old document properties. There appeared an error with level Unexpected: "System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Unable to find a webapplication at http://servername/pwa. Check if URL has been entered correctly..." and so on.

    I found out, that the problem was in the default field "Links", which content type is Project Link and which contained some xml data for allmost all docs:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Result><NewXML><PWSLinkDataSet xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/project/server/webservices/PWSLinkDataSet/" /></NewXML><ProjectUID>6436dc4e-f245-4125-9e2f-a3401793230a</ProjectUID><OldXML><PWSLinkDataSet xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/project/server/webservices/PWSLinkDataSet/" /></OldXML><ItemType>3</ItemType><PSURL>http://servername/pwa</PSURL></Result>

    Yes, I can see the old url adress here. If I remove this field from library, the problem is gone at all. If I configure an AAM to access the site through "http://servername", unexpected error is gone, but I get the pop-up "This feature requires at least MSXML 6.0 parser".

    So, the entire problem is in this field, but I couldn't find any info about it.. As well as about its content type(Project Links). Could anyone please clear up this for me?

    Thanks in advance!

    Anton.

  • Add the same address with HTTPS in AAM, and then access your pwa using HTTPS

  • # For sites which have been created unter your pwa url (e.g. /pwaurl/documentation) you need to init field PWAURL after your pwa url has changed
    # This will prevent "Error: File not found" message
    $Web = get-SPWeb "http://mypwaurl/documentation"
    $Web.AllProperties | Format-Table
    $Web.AllProperties[„PWAURL“]=““
    $Web.Update()
