Right handling with Internet Explorer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

What is the right handling with Internet Explorer?

During the installation of "Microsoft Office 2010" I get a new shortcut with the "Internet Explorer" which contains the "Microsoft Office Document Cache Handler"-Addon for SharePoint functions.
During the installation of "Adobe Flash Player" I also get a new shortcut with the "Internet Explorer" which now the "Shockwave Flash Object"-Addon contains.

The result is now, that I have two shortcuts for Internet Explorer. If I want to use and edit SharePoint documents, I have to open the IE with the Office Document Cache Handler-Addon, for Flash-Sites the other shortcut.

Can I combine these two into one "global" IE?
Is there a guide for that?

Beside of this: I searched the board after the Adobe Reader Plugin. Is it true, that it is not possible to implement the Adobe Reader Plugin into IE to read embedded PDF Documents?

  • Hello,

utilizing DSC would be one way to resolve it, but considering how you are viewing this I would recommend against it.

Office 2010 has proxies that would allow the native installation of Internet Explorer utilize sharepoint.

Sequencing plugins for Internet Explorer and providing a complete replacement for the natively available IE would perhaps require a lot more thought on your strategy than you seem to have done.

I would recommend to deploy plugins natively.

I would not keep the captured entry-points.
