  • Hi all, I shut down my laptop and next time I started it, I got the message that my user profile was missing. I went on the Microsoft site and found a fix for it but now I have lost all my, photos, videos, internet favourites, email etc. can anyone tell me if I can get it all back again. Thanks.

  • Hi,

Could you logon computer with that user name and password? Have you tried system restore to get it?

This problem is nearly always caused by a mismatch between the actual name/location of this folder and the name/location stored in the registry.

To fix the problem, log on as an administrator, launch regedit and change the ProfileImagePath value in the key that ends in ".bak" to match the actual profile folder name.  Alternatively, you can change the name of the profile to match the ProfileImagePath value in the key that ends in ".bak".
