how do you recover from the BSOD when your CD drive both internal & external are not recognized RRS feed

  • Question

Computer was in a stall mode while performing security download of 22 files

On the second install it seem to stop responding and indicated briefly a chkdsk error

unable to do anything I shut the power down via onoff switch

now unable to start in Safe Mode, Normal Mode, Last working point, etc.

Machine just recycles in attempting to restart.

I attempted to use my recovery disk however machine does not recognize either my internal or external CD/DVD drives

Note I have the Set-Up with the CD Boot has the first choice. (and I know I have a working external drive)

I then restarted using F8 and selected to stop the machine at the BSOD

    this is the error code:

    0X00000ED (0X83762030, 0XC0000009C, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

computer is running XP Home (trying too)

How do I get the computer to recognize the CD Drive so I can run my recovery disk?

  • It looks like your hard disk failure, try to replace it with another hard drive.
