Forms Authentication with document retriever RRS feed

  • Question

  • We push a url of a page to be indexed to FAST ESP 5.3. The content gets retrieved by the document retriever step in the pipeline.

The pages we want to index are in a secured part of our site. When you visit a secured page, you get redirected to the login-page.

How can we configure the document retriever to log in into this login-form?   (I'm looking for settings similar as the ones for the crawler)

  • Hello,

The DocumentRetriever stage does not offer a way to authenticate for access to the secured content. For crawling pages from http server, you could use the ‘HTTP proxies’ option from the Advance Crawler Configuration section in the web crawler. This option provides a way to pass the rusername/password credentials for http proxies.  Would that be an acceptable way to accomplish this goal?  Let us know your findings, and if you have more questions.
