Windows 10 Licence Key RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an activated copy of windows 10 pro on my PC (upgraded from w7 pro). I no longer have the coa sticker due to Microsoft assuring me that it was stored in the firmware after the upgrade and an issue with Dell not wanting to honour a support contract on a second hand device ( which is fair enough ). I have had activation issues after a clean install before so wanted to find out the product key before reinstalling Windows to avoid a repeat. I ran produkey and it returned a default key. So I contacted microsoft online support, the first gentleman Jonald D wrote sentences that were just jibberish and after 30 minutes had done nothing. The second adviser tried to help and tried 3 techniques that returned 'not available'. She also suggested I tried Dell, however I don't have the service tag for the device, and as they treat second hand purchasers as thieves, isn't much help. Does anyone have any ideas of how to find my product key?

    Thanks Martyn
