Macrons on position are not showing correctly in Active Directory

    Question

  • Macrons on position are not showing correctly in Active Directory

    We have a user Job Title in AD should contain macrons (Kai-hāpai), but displays as Kai-hāpai.

    Do you know if this feature is by design? Or a limitation in AD itself?

    Many Thanks!

  • Hi Turangilee,

    The title attribute is a unicode string, any valid unicode character should be able to be stored, which would include the macron. I was not able to copy and paste your character into the field, or type it with an alt code for some reason.

    Here is what I did to get it into the field.

    From powershell create a text file containing the string including the \u0304 combining macron character

    [regex]::Unescape("Kai-ha\u0304pai") | out-file -encoding unicode test.txt; notepad test.txt

    Copy data from the text file into the Title field.

    Good Luck!
