Software update objects greyed out, can't select them for migration to sccm 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • migrating from sccm 2007 to sccm 2012

On the screen to select objects for migration, all objects a available to be selected, except software updates objects. Why are they greyed out?

  • I know I'm not answering your question, but why migrate software update ?

I've done many migrations but, I've never tried to migrate software updates from CM07 to CM12.
It's so easy to just start over, and you dont have to struggle with all the old stuff in the new environment...

  • Agree With Ronny, I also start over usually. But if you have many Software Update Groups and dont want to recreate them then migrate.

To be able to migrate Software Updates Object, the metadata needs to be the same in CM 2007 and 2012 environment.

Meaning all the updates you want to migrate needs to be available in CM 2012 Site. So, check Products, classifications and also have a look at my blogpost about the CM 2012 New feature that removes expire superseed updates.  http://www.sccm.biz/2013/02/aspects-to-think-though-when-migrating.html
