UPClean and SteadyState RRS feed

  • Question

  • Moving from Shared Computer Toolkit, which recommended use of User Profile Hive Cleanup, to SteadyState.  SS docs say to uninstall UPClean, but several comments in this venue suggest using it.  Is UPClean appropriate for use with SS?  From the getgo, or just in a jam?  Should UPClean not be used with SS?

  • Hello Customer,

Yes, it is recommended that you install User Profile Hive Cleanup tool (UPHClean) on a Windows XP client with SteadyState installed. In the SteadyState Handbook, we suggest that you first uninstall UPHClean tool before upgrading to SteadyState to avoid potential conflicts which may affect SteadyState installation. After SteadyState is installed, you can then reinstall UPHClean tool.

Thanks and have a nice day.
