BranchCache Hosted Server also Content Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently looking to use BranchCache but I have some questions that I haven't been able to find an answer on.

We want to configure a content server for our HQ.  That's fine.

We want to have a Hosted Cache Server at each remote office.  That's fine.

But we also would like to use each remote office Hosted Cache Server as a content server as well.  For instance:

Remote Site A has files which are specific to it and those files do not exist at HQ.   A user at Remote Site B needs those files.  He accesses them and they are cached onto Remote Site B's Hosted Cache Server for other users at that location.

Is this a workable scenario with BranchCache?  Can a hosted cache server also be a content server for other hosted cache servers?

    Any info is much appreciated.

  • Hi,

    Sorry for the delay reply.

BranchCache can also be used in one of two different modes which determine where the specific content is cached.

If you are using the distributed cache mode, the content server must be configured with BranchCache.
