Windows 2008 R2 DHCP Not Discovered RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using SCOM R2 with Update Rollup. I have installed SCOM Agent on DHCP servers running on Windows 2008 R2. Its been couple of days and nothing is discovered as DHCP workload.

I can see in the MP guide also, Windows 2008 is mentioned as supported configuration, however Windows 2008 R2 is not mentioned.

Does it mean that we do not have MP for DHCP running on Windows 2008 R2 or can there be some other issue?

  • You already highlighted that the MP guide lists those things that are supported.  It would be hard to write a guide that includes what is not supported.  Since that is the current version of the MP and it was released to support Server 2008 R2, it does not support versions of the OS that were released later in time.

  • Hey, thank you for the response....

Do we have this mentioned somwhere in MP guide or some other KB/Link?

This will help justify it to customer apart from no mention of R2 in MP guide.

    Thanks,

  • Got it!

Do we have any update on by when we are expecting to have an MP to support DHCP on Windows 2008 R2.

    Thanks,

Is there still no update on when this MP will be released to support 2008 R2?

I've modified the script that discovers the DHCP roles so that the constant for WINDOWS2008VERSION is 6.1 instead of 6.0, but this just discovers the DHCP server role and not its underlying components..

Thanks for the MVP's to keep us updated.

  • Hi guys,

    Any news on this?
It seems DHCP on Win 2008 R2 is still not supported??

This a really big disappointment towards Microsoft for not following up on their own products.. :-/

  • Windows 2008 R2 DHCP is supported in the latest MP version.
Read this and the MP Guide before importing!
