SharePoint 2007 - Content Migration RRS feed

    Hi!

    I am administrating SharePoint 2007 portal for my organization. Recently I crossed a scenario, where I need to restore content data from one web application to other.

    To simplify the scenario

    1. http://mysite_restored - Contains data till 4th June

    2. http://mysite_production - Contains data till date but exclusive of 27th May till 4th June

    Any idea, suggestion or help with copying missing data (i.e. from 27th May till 4th June) from mysite_restored to mysite_production?

    Please be informed that both the web application contains absolutely same workspaces, site collections and lists.

    For SharePoint 2007 you could build a custom solution to move the data or if you install PowerShell on one of the servers in the farm you could write a PowerShell script as well.

    Out of the box these would be your available options. Third party migration tools like Metalogix Migration Manager for SharePoint can easily achieve your goal (disclosure: I work for a Metalogix partner).

    If you don't have a PS specialist, or someone familiar with scripting, I'd go with a tool as well.  It'll be much quicker and efficient, especially if we're talking about SharePoint 2007.  I'd also suggest Metalogix utilities.
