Vista doesn't recognize any floppy (3.5") disks? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi. I've recently upgraded XP to Windows Vista, and only noticed that I can't feed any archaic 3.5" disks to it.

From the Windows Explorer, a 3.5" Drive A is acknowledged, but every disk prompts "You need to format the disk in Drive A before you are able to use it."

From a Safe Mode Command Prompt, I get a "Windows - Unknown Disk Format" prompt:

    Exception Processing Message 0xc0000014 Parameters 0x75EB023C 0x82691CBC 0x75EB023C 0x75EB023C

Do I have a hardware driver issue?

  • Hi,

Please let me know the model of your floppy drive. We may need to check if it is compatible with Windows Vista.
