  • Hi there,

If you create a new permission level, it is possible to give all permissions except creating subsites. (site permissions- create subsites)

Just go to your site - site settings - site permissions - permission levels - add a permission level

  • Designers will only work if you activate the Publishing feature and has the following site level permissions enabled: -

    1. Add Customise Pages
    2. Apply Themes / Borders
    3. Apply Style Sheets
    4. Browse Directories
    5. Use Self-Service Site Creation
    6. View Pages
    7. Browse User information
    8. Use Remote Interface
    9. Use Client Integration Features
    10. Open
    11. Edit Persona User Information

As Marijin suggests, creating your own permission group allows you to taylor what permissions are enabled.  These are broken down to list level, site level and personal level.  Once defined, you'll not have to create the permission grouping again and it can be deployed everywhere within that collection and isn't contingent upon a feature being activated.

  • It seems that the "Designers" has the "Design" which enable the following:

Design - Can view, add, update, delete, approve, and customize

    isn't it so?

i want the site owners to be able to create objects as lists & libraries and modified columns, views etc.

  • Did you read my post?  I've outlined the site permissions that Designer has.  It doesn't have the "Create Sub Sites" permission enabled.  So: -

    • Use Design if it's enabled for you OR
    • Copy the administrator permissions, unselect this permission box and assign it to your site owners member group

  • Thanks :)

i'm familiar with those settings and how to create a new group, it's just that i didn't saw any reference to "manage lists" in the OOB group and that's what i looked for, so i wanted to see i didn't miss something

  • Does that mean you're question has been answered?  List permission section has its own section for laying out what can/can't be done.

  • I'm trying to avoid create a new group and use the default permission sets, but in this case i should edit specific site user permissions (since in each site the site owner has to have the control on his specific site)

I edited the user permissions of the relevant user and there the "Design" did the job, thanks

  • Keren, If you Full Control on a site, then Design is not sufficient. For example, they cannot add people to the site. OR do other stuff like Steven posted.
