baseline work for project not summing based upon baseline work of subtasks RRS feed

  • Question

  • The baseline work number of hours for my entire project does not sum based upon the number of baseline hours of its subtasks. Is there a setting or something I can do so that the amount of hourse of baseline work is a function of the subtasks?

  • blueskyct,

The baseline hours should automatically sum up at summary level.

First of all, what version of Project are you using? Do you have the latest service pack installed? You can get service packs at, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/ee748587.

Do you have calculation set for automatic?

  • One possibility is that you have deleted some tasks with baseline values. Summary task totals are only changed when the baseline is saved or updated.

It is better to not delete a task on the baseline, instead set its work to zero so teh original baseline is preserved.

    calculations are set to automatic

I think I was able to fix my problem. When I reset my baseline, it seemed to update correctly.

  • This is good to know. I will try this convention.
