Changing Booking Type on a Resource Plan after Committing a Portfolio Analysis RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Another issue we have with Workflows (proposals) and Strategy are as follows:

The minute you create a proposal (to run trough an approval workflow) you have a project on the server, even though this project is not approved yet and may be filtered out by portfolio analysis.

To overcome this we set our resurces with the proposed default booking type. We make our initial plans using the Resource Plan feature rather than making PMs assign resoures tot task.

Now, when the project is approved - the booking type should change to committed

    I have 2 problems:

    1. I didn't find how to change booking type in a resource plan.

    2. Is there a way that PROJECT will automatically change booking type to committed for projects tha were approved by workflow and/or selected by portfolio analysis?

P.S. - we use Nitex for our workflows.

Regarding question #1, navigate to the Project Center page in PWA and then click the name of the Proposal.  On the Proposal Summary page for your Proposal, click the Resource Plan button on the Project ribbon.  Click the Name of the first resource in the Resource Plan and then click the Edit Custom Fields button in the Resources section of the Plan ribbon.  On the Edit Custom Fields page, click the Assignment Booking Type pick list and select the Committed item, and then click the Save button.  Repeat this process for every resource in the Resource Plan.  Save and publish the Resource Plan when finished.

Regarding question #2, I believe that the resources in the Resource Plan will continue to be Proposed resources unless you change them manually to Committed, regarding of what has transpired in the workflow to date.  If I am wrong about this, I would be grateful for someone to correct me.

    Hope this helps.
