Contact group not consistently displaying for one specific user RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hard to describe this issue, for apologies for the bad title.

In our org, we have a group contact list made by a user, managed by the user, who granted read/use access by other users. Another specific user, is usually (80%) missing at least one specific contact in that group, occasionally it is a few more, but the few additional are pretty consistent as well.

These are win10 LTSB 2015 LTSB running either office 2016 MSI, or office 2016 retail (we are desperate)

We have added the problem user on as an owner of the list

We have rebuild this users cache. Including removing office, blowing away anything remotely office in app data - and rebuilding the entire cache.

We have also tried another computer and version of 2016 (msi vs retail) - and no change.

We have had the original creator make a NEW group - and moved the group of contacts over - Problem user still has problems with the specific contacts.

We figure now it HAS to be a problem with a permission on our in house exchange? We do not see any differences between creator, and problem user, as such we are stumped.

  • Hi Greensystemsgo,

How did the specific user open this contact folder? Via File > Open & Export > Other User’s folder?

Please check if contact group shows correctly on OWA.

Does this issue happen to specific contact in this contact group? An external contact?

To check if it is a sync issue, we can set to access shared contact folder online. To do this, please go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Double click your Exchange account and choose More Settings. Under Advanced tab, unselect “Download shared folder”. Restart Outlook to see the results.

Any updates, please feel free to post back.

    Regards,

    Perry

  • Hello Perry_Pan!

It was added via a shared folder via outlook - not exported to a file and passed around. The user that created this contact list also maintains it and we need to keep it updated throughout our org in real time.

While our gal addresses will populate in owa when typing in the address - you cannot select contacts from a shared address list.
