Windows 2008 not start

  • Hi,

Because of the failure of one of the servers I was forced to convert a physical machine to a VHD using Disk2vhd. Then I plugged it as the virtual machine. When you run the newly created machine I have the following message:

    File: \windows\system32\drivers\MEGASAS.sys

    Status: 0xc0000359

Info: Windows failed to load becuse a critical system driver is missing, or corrupt.

I understand that the error is due to the fact that on a physical machine using a different controller than it is now in a virtual machine. Is this the case, you can force the system to use a standard controller driver disks? The Hirens Boot CD is a cool tool that can handle such a case but on XP systems. Can anyone met this problem and tell you a solution.

  • Hi Marzelz,

Please remove any unwanted hardware added from the P2V conversion - Like Floppy, CD drive, etc then Restart PC in safe mode - Let see what happens. (I would also suggest P2V again. )
