Server 2012 R2 Fine-grained password policies work with Server 2003

    Question

  • Hi,

In my domain I'm trying to create 3 password policy in server 2012 r2 for 3 OU, but when I right click "Password Setting Container", the "new" grey out and unable for me to click it. May I know how I can resolve it? Thank you.

BTW, my domain got 3 DC, Pri DC (server 2012 r2), 2 Sec DC (server 2012 r2 and 2003 r2). Is it because of the Server 2003 that why I can't create new password policy?

    Regards,

    Sebastian

  • Yes, the domain functional level must be 2008 or higher.  The 2003 domain controller keeps you at 2003 domain functional level.  You would need to get rid of the 2003 domain controller then raise the functional level.
