HELP: Unable to Load SQLBOOT.DLL Following Upgrade From Developer Edition to Standard Edition RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have recently upgraded a SQL x64 server from Developer Edition to Standard Edition,   This succeeded without issue.   Following a reboot SQL Server yielded the following message

Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with unable to load SQLBoot.DLL.   Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this issue.

    Please can anyone help ?

    Many Thanks

  • Hi Marcus,

I think you need to perform uninstalling and reinstalling Sql Server. Refer these links for Windows Installer cleanup utility and how to manually uninstall Sql 2005 http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2424585&SiteID=1
If you have Sql 2000 refer this link for uninstalling the same manually, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290991
If you found any other method instead of uninstall\reinstall pls share the solution with us as it will be helpful for others with the same problem. Before uninstalling, copy the ldf and mdf files to a safe location, install sql server and attach the databases..
