Disabling the History and deletion of Temporary Internet Files RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone.

I have a home computer with XP Home and IE 7. My children use my laptop and I want to know if it is possilbe to disable the history deletion and temporary internet file deletion. I want to know where they are going and what they could be looking at. It seems the history is deleted every so often. I have it set to 20 days, and the setting "delete temp files upon closing" is disabled.

  • Hi CMarkham,

Do you refer to the following restriction in SteadyState?

[Feature Restrictions\Internet Explorer Restrictions\Empty the Temporary Internet Files folder when Internet Explorer is closed]

Besides this option, the following functions of SteadyState can also delete the IE temporary files automatically:

    1. Lock User Profile (by selecting “Lock profile to prevent the user from making permanent changes”)

    2. Windows Disk Protection (WDP) (If you have configure it to “Remove all changes at restart”)

After that, you can check if the IE temporary files have been saved. BTW, you can also install some parent control software to monitor the Internet access.

    Best Regards,
