    Am installing SharePoint 2010 on windows server 2008 standard edition, the server is  offline  "not connected to the internet", I downloaded all prerequisites and installed them, the installation is working fine. however when I try to start Document conversions launcher service under local system it give the message service didn't respond in timely fa..., although when I change the service log on to use Network service account or local service it runs fine.

    Well installing SharePoint 2010 offline is a hard thing to do, however I had to connect my server online and re install SharePoint, And every thing want fine.

    I believe I missed on of the updates / prerequisites.

     

    However I found  this article  Create an “offline” SharePoint 2010 installer, which worth looking at
