UAG/DA only works with one server RRS feed

  • Question

  • UAG SP1, Win 7 SP1 Enterprise client, setting up DA for the first time.

The only computer to which I have DA client connectivity is a DC. It is the DC that is returned by NLTEST /DSGETDC:, which, I'm guessing, is not a coincidence. I can ping that one computer, browse shares, connect by RDP.

I get name resolution for all other servers, but have no connectivity, ping or otherwise. This includes the computers designated as "infrastructure" servers.

Further investigation shows that the DC to which I can connect is the ONLY one to which I apparently failed to assign a statice IPv6 address. It has only a link-local address.

Background: This is a new system, not in production. I've elected to configure it with a non-routable IPv6 prefix as an opportunity to learn about IPv6, and, hopefully, smooth the eventual transition to a "native" IPv6 network when that becomes possible.

Hate to give up on that strategy...but have I shot myself in the foot with DA by doing so?
