Office 365 SharePoint map network file editor problem

    Question

  • I created a subsite as a document repository.
I turned off the "Require Exception" option.
The subsites Document sharing for reasons I can connect as a network drive. The computer also appearing as a network location, it can also work.
    The problem is the following:
When you open files for editing via a network location, then at least an hour I can not open. The error message: A (z) "X: \ MunkafüzetProba.xlsx" could not be opened. After an hour once again be opened and edited the document.
I would ask for their help!

  • Hi Peter Sandor,

For troubleshooting the issue, you could check things below.

    1. Check if the site in SharePoint online is added in trusted site.

    2. Check if “Keep me sign in” is selected when logging in SharePoint online.

    3. Check the status of the WebClient service. Go to start->administrative tools->services-> WebClient service.

    4. Turn off firewall in the server to check if it can work.

For more detailed information, you could refer to the article below.

  • Hi Sara Fan,

    Thank you for your reply!

    Accessing network drives work fine.

    The problem:
When you open a file for editing, and went from there, then I can not open it for an hour.
If I open read-only, you do not have this problem.

Network drives: the access works fine

The network drive, the file is a medal

I find the file open for editing

After editing the file is closed and went, but after that I can not open
    Thanks for the help!

  • There is a feature on normal shared drives that locks documents when someone starts editing them. SharePoint is trying to replicate that but something is blocking the notifications that tell the file server that the document is no longer locked for editing. It is then waiting for the time out to expire after an hour.

I'll bet that if you access the documents through the UI you won't have any issues.

  • Thank you for the answer!

And there's a solution or such a system?

  • Not written down anywhere that I know of, I've seen related issues before but never been able to put time into finding out why/how to fix it in detail. I suspect you'd need one of your networking team to have a look. My personal suspicion would be proxy settings but that's no more than a guess.
