Can't join Windows 2008 Domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • I try to join a Win2008 domain and I get this error message

"An error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate an Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for domain "WIN-7YWBFBQHODC.DC.TEST.COM".

The error was: "No records found for given DNS query."
    (error code 0x0000251D DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS)

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.WIN-7YWBFBQHODC.DC.TEST.COM

How would I setup the DNS server so the domain is WIN-7YWBFBQHODC.DC.TEST.COM ? It says that the full PC name in SYSTEM in Win2008 is what the domain is, but when I try joining the domain, it doesn't join?

Why is it doing that, and how do I set it up in DNS?

I am from PMC; planetminecraft.com/member/dr__steve You should join! I changed my username to _The_Doktor
