    You can use VMWindow.exe -file "<absolute path to .vmcx file>"command to open Virtual XP Machine.

     

    Example:

    vmwindow -file "C:\Users\yourname\Virtual Machines\Windows xp mode.vmcx"

  • The menu shortcut has the command line that seems to work for XP Mode: %SystemRoot%\system32\rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\system32\VMCPropertyHandler.dll,LaunchDefaultVM I don't have other VMs but their shortcuts should work too
