  • Hi,

This can cause WSUS connection timeout issues for many reasons, but most of these cases are caused by the site memory limit of IIS. Please refer to the "Disable recycling and configure memory limits" section of "Windows Server Update Services Best Practices" to adjust the IIS memory limit.

If this does not resolve the issue you are experiencing, in order to provide more targeted recommendations, please consider telling us which version of WSUS you are using.

    Regards,
    Yic

  • Hi Yic,

Im running version 10.0.17763.1 on server 2019

i've made the changes as recommended in the best practices site you have linked above

The server it is running on has 2CPUs 8gb ram and it still seems quite slow, this is a new server for our environment.

After the changes were made, see error below

The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server via the remote API.

Verify that the Update Services service, IIS and SQL are running on the server. If the problem persists, try restarting IIS, SQL, and the Update Services Service.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.
Please check if the following system services are running:

    • WSUS Service
    • Database service
      -  Windows Internal Database (For WID database)
      -  SQL Server (For SQL database)

Then, consider trying to clean up the WSUS server by script: "WSUS Cleanup".
If you still cannot open the WSUS console, consider the Re-index database index: "Re-index the WSUS Database".

    Regards,
    Yic
