Windows XP SP3 Slow Domain Logins RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello there, I am having some minor problems with a computer that I have gotten the assignment to check, the problem is that whenever a user tries to login on the domain,it takes approximately 50-75 minutes , which I think is kinda ridiculous, I have checked the various guides and other stuff that i could find on google and also here on the technet.I could properly just format it and reinstall a new XP image, but my boss wants to know WHY it reacts as it does. we did normally have 3-4 users on it, and all of a sudden this happened. If I log on as Domain Admin it log in immediately and i can delete the userprofiles aswell. it is only this computer that are doing this. I do have to notice that it is a very old computer, with 512Mb DDR Ram and some very old processor.

  • Hitsuchan - You have not specified what server OS are you using.

     Try this:

On the domain controller and client, open the command prompt and type the following commands:

    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /registerdns

    This should resolve the issue.

If you still face issue, please give some more details about the server OS.
