Appying Rules to a Shared Mailbox - Exchange 2003/Outlook 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

If I wanted to play a sound when I receive mail from a certain contact but from an additional shared mailbox in Outlook is this possible to do?

From what I understand I could create the rules in the shared mailbox but this is going to apply the rule to everyone who has access to that shared mailbox?

    Regards

    Chris

  • In terms of creating the rule that should work. If it's a server side rule then yes I think that would apply to every user accessing it, however if it's a client side this machine only rule then it'll only apply to your machine. Playing a sound makes it a this machine only rule, so that should be fine. There's a list of which actions make it client side only and this machine only here http://www.msoutlook.info/question/371
