Question: mail flow control on exchange 2010 to to restrict mail based on group

    Question

  • Hi all,

I need a solution that allows us to restrict mail flow (based on group membership).  We want to allow users to send email at any time, but we only want email to be delivered between 6am and 11pm each day (configurable time).   Emails are held but not delivered until the email flow is opened up again between 6am and 11pm (only for users in a certain group, say KWS_restricted_emailFlow).  Please include an email bounce message from the recipients mailbox when emails are sent to them during the restrited time.  We would like to configure this message.

The current environment is exchange on premise, if this cannot be setup by using exchange 2010 only. is there any other solution we can use to make it happen?

    thanks

  • Hi,

Agree with above response, there is no such feature and method to achieve your requirement.

Every message that's sent or received by an Exchange 2010 client must be categorized on a Hub Transport server before it can be routed and delivered. After a message has been categorized, it's put in a delivery queue for delivery to a mailbox in the same Active Directory site as the Hub Transport server on which the message was categorized or for routing to a recipient in a different Active Directory site or forest, or to a recipient outside the organization.

So email can't be held for some hours when it is sent successfully,we also can not open and close the mail flow in a specific time.

    Regards,
