User Rights

  • OS: Server 2008 R2

    Application: Microsoft Rights Management Service

Issue: UserA creates a new document(call it "Orientation") on O drive(drive is mapped through batch as \\server1\share\FileShare). with Read-Only for UserB, no access for UserC, and change permission for UserD. UserB can read it(and cannot modify), UserC cannot open it, and UserD can open it. UserD can also make modifications to it, but not able to save it with the same name on the same share. UserD has modify permissions on the security level. Is there any way in RMS to allow it to be able to modify it and overwrite it the same name on the same location? I can give USerD full permission on the security level, but I was looking at controlling it in RMS. Any thoughts?

  • Hi,

RMS helps you to control/protect the content of a file but will not help you at all on file system access control or how a file system manages the file name syntax.
