I originally posted this in the Nano Server forum, but then I realized it is a more general question about 2016 than it is specific to Nano.
Microsoft currently has this article -
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj733589.aspx - on support for booting just Hyper-V server from USB.
Since Nano Server is considered an installation option, and it could very definitely benefit from SD boot capabilities that are coming on many new servers, does Microsoft have any plans to change the restriction on USB/SD boot within 2016?
There would be two flavors to consider here. The first is if the driver presents the SD as a non-removable device. In that case, I would think that Microsoft would have no issues as long as the vendor supports it. Even for earlier versions
than 2016. Yes/No?
The second is if the driver presents the SD as a removable device. Then it falls into a similar camp as USB. But with removable SD and USB 3, I'm wondering if the above article will still apply. Yes/No?
