Log in password fail Windows 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have just installed Windows 10 on my daughters PC & now it won't accept the Microsoft account password on log in. I know it is correct as she has to use the same one for her phone & have signed in on a different machine. Can someone please explain how we can now log in.

  • Hi,

Since it is a Microsoft account, you may try to reset the password, click link below to reset the password: https://account.live.com/resetpassword.aspx

Detailed steps you may reference When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account:

    Thanks for the responce.

It supplies a button to reset the password upon failure. I tried this with no success. So out of pure frustration & impatience, I wiped the drive re-installed 7 then 10 again.

It seems that Microsoft new about this problem from the technical preview version but no one seems to know the cure.

Hope it stats good this time.

  • Hello,

I am completely locked out of my desktop computer after updating to Windows 10. I see that a lot of people are having this issue, but the means of which they are solving their issues, I do not have. Such as reinstalling old versions & then updating again, or have previously made PC unlocker discs, ect... Upon start up, it asks for my PIN, or password, & it says it is incorrect even though it works on everything else. I have changed it multiple times with no luck. Above is the exact same problem I am having, but I need a fix that I can do. Or, if you even have the ability to take my email (my MS Account) & just unlock it would 've great, at this point. I have been locked out of my PC for a couple weeks, & I really need to use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy Miller

  • I have exactly the same problem.  Been using my PIN to logon to my machine for ages, and forgotten the password.  Went through the Microsoft password reset site, and got a code etc, reset my password using that, and all worked OK, in that I can logon to my Microsoft account on the web.  But my local machine will not accept that password.  I can still logon with my PIN, but for some other things I need my machine password.  How do I get that reset ????
