System state and BMR to USB drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi team,

Guest servers on Hyper-V are a mixture of SBS 2011, Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2.

DPM 2010 won't allow me to do BMR protection to tape.

Can the system state and BMR be backed up to a USB drive ok?

    Regards,

    Si-Ming

  • Hi Si-Ming,

You only backup to USB with DPM using a third party app called Firestreamer: http://www.cristalink.com/fs/. If you already have a tape unit you could consider doing backup to disk and then backup from disk to tape.

  • Thanks Buchatech.

What other backup media options are available for DPM 2010 and backing up Bare Metal Recovery?

  • Hi Si-Ming,

Some options are: disk(SAN, anything iSCSI like a iSCSI SAN or NAS, eSATA), cloud, or off-site DPM server.
