Skype For Business - Skype federation problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone.

I have a Skype For Business Server 2015 FE Standard Edition and Skype For Business 2015 Edge Server Standard Edition (NAT, 1 public IP, 3 FQDN and 3 listening ports, Firewall disabled) with latest CU installed. In addition, I have configured skype - skype federation and Exchange integration with archiving enabled. I can search for skype contacts, add them in my contacts list (they receive request), send IM, make audio and video calls, see their status from my Skype For Business client, after they add me in their contact list. Only get two problems (or not problems?) some skype contacts names doesn’t show properly (they shown like live:....) and I can’t send files to skype contacts.

From Skype I can search sfb contacts and add them in contacts list but sfb user doesn’t receiving any requests for adding contact. I need to add skype contact in sfb client first. After that, I can IM sfb contact from skype, but didn't see his status. Also I can’t send files to sfb contact.

If all sfb clients was offline when skype user send IM to sfb user, this message is disappear.

    Skype desctop version: 8.34.0.78

SFB client vertsion: 2016 with latest updates

I will be glad to any help.

  • Hi Vladislav,

Based on my test in my environment, we could not see the SFB users’ status now, however, we could send IM to them. You could refer to the screenshot below:

In addition, based on my test, when we add SFB contact in Skype consumer, the SFB client also do not receive the contact add request.

  • Hi Zaikun!

Nope. I had same errors when tried to deploy SFB Sever 2019. On SFB Sever 2015 no such errors, Skype directory search work very well.

  • Hi Zaikun,

On Skype For Business Server 2015 I have problems that I listed here. Skype directory seacrh works well.

On Skype For Business Server 2019 I had the same problem with you. Skype directory search didn't work. And I don't know how to solve this problem. It looks like a bag.

    Regards!

  • Hi Vladislav,

Please refer to the similar issue

Recently, there is a problem occurring when a SfB user adds a Skype Consumer user to their contact list. Microsoft have noticed this problem, and there’s a temporary workaround to this problem:
     - In Skype Consumer client, search for the SIP address of the SfB User, once found, send a message.
     - This will complete the acceptance in the Skype Consumer side and will allow for 2 way communication to continue.

    Best Regards,
    Evan Jiang

  • Hello Evan!

In my case, Skype Consumer client receive contact add request from SfB Client and can add him into his contacts list. But when you add SfB contact in Skype Consumer Client first, Skype For Business Client doesn't receive any contact add requests from Skype Consumer User. Also, after Skype Consumer Contact will be add in SfB user contacts list, Skype Consumer user can't see status of SfB contact, but can start conversation and send IM to him.

    Regards
