Vista fails to boot after SCSI drive w controller installed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows Vista was working just fine on my computer untill I added a different SCSI controller and a SCSI drive.  There are four SATA drives that were in the system, one of which has Vista and one of which had Win2Kpro.  Now the system fails to boot.  An OS can not be found.  All the drives and partitions are still there in Vista's OS repair function on the installation DVD - even the partitions that were already on the SCSI.  So what happened?  I have spent hours testing the cable connections and trying to use Partition Magic and Western Digital's Data Lifeguard but those tools seem inadequate to the task.
