IE & Self signed certificate behaviour RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I browse my secure web page.  IE gives me a warning that "There is a problem with this website's security certificate."  If I choose the option "Continue to this website (not recommended), the web page loads & I can see the content, click some other links on the page & do every operation.

Now, when I open a link from the page, does IE validates the certificate again? since I have not received any certificate warning I am assuming that IE is not validating the certificate again. Only when I close the web page & browse again the same I see the certificate warning again.

So, does it mean that IE is temporarily accepting the certificate ? how long IE will trust that web page. Can someone help me understand this particular behaviour or give me any RFC on this behavior.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi,

first check your system time settings.... Start>Control Panel>Date and Time (double click on the taskbar clock also)

    contact your issuing authority

or web search for problems with godaddy certificates.

  • Hi,

I am not asking about the solution to the certificate error, rather I want to know the behavior of the Internet explorer. Once you accept the certificate, how long IE will trust that web page? any RFC information on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks & Regards,
