why do websites keep telling me to update to ie8 from ie6 when i am already using ie8 RRS feed

    certain websites keep telling me i need to update from ie6 to ie8 and link me to the ie8 website but when i get there it tells me i am already using ie8, this is really annoying and i can't figure out what is wrong, i think when i uninstalled something it did this and i don't remember what it was. i have completely reset ie8 but still have this issue, please help me!

    Try re-installing IE8:

    1. Click Start and click Control Panel.
    2. Click Programs and Click Turn Windows features on or off under Programs and Features.
    3. Uncheck the box in front of Internet Explorer 8 in Windows Features panel.
    4. Click OK and restart the computer.
    5. Repeat step 1 and step 2.
    6. Re-check the box in front of Internet Explorer 8 in Windows Features panel.
    7. Restart the computer.

    Now launch Internet Explorer 8 to see if the issue persists.
