NON KMS Publishing DNS entry Automatically RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Team,

We are running Standalone DNS server, we could see more of the (non) KMS server entry added automatically in the _vlmcs part, which is not having host key added or serving as KMS server.

    Thanks -Ashok

  • Hi Ashok,

Please ensure KMS host has permission to create SRV record on DNS server.

Please ensure DNS client service function properly.

Have you checked if there is related information exist?

You could check link below to enable auto-publishing entries on DNS server for KMS host:

  • Hello John,

Thanks for your reply, my problem is here is we are bulding the server using VM templates, whenever we build new serers using the template. one server entry get created in VLMCS automatically.

we found there are around 40 + entry created in DNS. we need to modify the setting in the template.

But Im not sure how to avoid this entry get created automatically for nee build servers.

  • Hi Ashok,

    Sorry for my mistake.

You could delete suffix on server, please open System Properties panel, and then click change domain or workgroup, and click More..., and then delete suffix on it.

Or you could uncheck Register this connection's addresses in DNS, please open Advance TCP/IP settings, and then select DNS tab, and you could uncheck this option.

    Best Regards

    John
