Memory still reserved after closing programs - gadget bug? RRS feed

  • Question

  • (Windows 7) Memory usage after startup is normally 25% of 4Gb (Picture).

But after some time, the PC doesn't really reboot, it just goes to slumber, so it could be days, it seems like some programs still have memory usage. (Picture). Because according to tasklist there are only the normal system programs running showing the same 1Gb usage. So is it a bug in desktop gadget when it reports about 2/3 of 4Gb reserved while task manager shows 1/4?

  • No, it's not a bug. Windows 7 is ready for those applications to be started. If something another application requires those "reserved" resources, they would be allocated there.

Click Start=>type resmon in the search box and select the resource monitor from the results. Select the memory tab. There you find detail on the how the memory is used, allocated, reserved, etc.

Are there any performance problems? If not, do not be concerned.
