SCCM and SQL 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can you install SCCM to work with strait SQL 2008 or do you have to install SQL 2005 then upgrade your SQL after the SCCM install?   Also, which version is the lastest version SCCM 2007 R2 or SCCM 2007 SP2?

  • SQL 2008 is fully supported no need to start with SQL 2005. SP2 is the lastest service pack release, R2 is a feature pack and adds some functionality to ConfigMgr. like SQL Reporting Services. Those two are not the same, and most likely you will install both.

  • Thank you all for the replies.  I guess I just kept finding the articles that talked about having to upgraded from SQL 2005 then to SQL 2008.
