A client I'm working with is using GW to monitor the remote sites. Now these sites are connected through switches which can go down. In that case, they would like to receive only one alert of switch or GW going down, and suppress all heartbeat failure alerts from remote agents. Fair enough.

I know this has been a long standing question in SCOM on how to avoid alert storms. One way of doing it I know of is to put the remote agents into MM using a Posh once an alert from the switch or GW is detected. The client says they'd want to be able to not confuse with the actual MM (for patching, etc) and automated MM (in case of failure).

How do you guys achieve this? Would love to know your thoughts.

    Cheers
