Resource Reporting RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using a report and a view to understand the resource utilization (and the specific tasks) of a specific resource.  To do this, I am using two different reports.  First, I am using the "Who Does Waht When" canned report.  I am also using the "Resource Usage" view.  The report and the view appear to be telling different stories.  The "Who Does What When" report has the resource allocated between 300 - 360 hours / quarter.  The "Resource Usage View" shows the resource as being 300 - 500 percent overallocated at points during this time.  I checked the resource sheet and they are allocated 40 hours / wk.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reconcile these two reports / views?

    Thanks!

What is there to reconcile?  The information in the view and the report tell you that you have accidentally overallocated your resources, probably by assigning them to parallel tasks in the project.  In the Resource Usage view, do you see the names of your resources formatted in red?  And do you see Work hours formatted in red in the timephased grid of the Resource Usage view?  If so, this indicates the resources are overallocated and the view shows you the time periods during which your resources are overallocated.  Let us know and we will try to help.
