black screen on start up with cursor RRS feed

  • hi have a HP compaq 6910p notebook with windows xp home,my computer starts up I see the HP logo and say something about intel then its stay black screen with a blinking cursor nothing else happens.I tried to repair useing the disk that came with the notebook can't,try ti install widows xp again cant says Im missing the hard drive,even use the restore back to the orginal state still wont work.Went into bios and did hard drive test all test pass.

    So what do I do HELP Please

  • try to do ( Ctrl + Alt + Del ) at black Screen if the task manager opened .

     

    go to  File --> Run... ---> Browse --> C:\Windows\explorer.exe --> ok

     

    if doesn't opened :

     

    restart your computer and F8  go to Safemode  then

     

    Start --> Run... --> msconfig --> Startup --> Disable All --> ok

     

    Start --> Run... --> %TEMP% --> Select All --> Delete All

    Start --> Run... --> TEMP --> Select All --> Delete All

     

     

    and restart your computer

  • Hi,

     

    Possible for you to use HDD regen tools 1.4 to try to scan your disk for bad sectors ? I suspect your hard disk i-node file structure indexing has been corrupted.
