Partial Allocation of a Resource RRS feed

  • Question

  • If there is a case where a resource is working on two or more project simultaneously.

If we define the percentage availability of a resource, then it is applied on enterprise level and hours per day for that resources get calculated as per that percentage and the resource is visible available for that much hours for every project.

Then how can we define the percentage allocation of the resource for respective projects ?

  • Hi Abhishek,

Unfortunately Project Server does not provide the ability to define an availability per project. This setting of at resource level and enterprise wide. A workaround in case this is a generic resource (ie not a user with a valid account) is to duplicate the resource into 2 or more resources applying for each one the % of availability. Note that it can be tedious to manage.

In case it is a user with a valid account, so far I do not know any easy way to manage it, other than manually dealing with the % units of each assignment in its projects. Note that having consolidated capacity report can help having an overview of the resource allocation..

    Hope this helps,
