Deleting registry key at first login RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to delete a key from HKCU only at first time login for each user on the machine. It only needs to happen once for each user. The new key will be recreated and it doesn't need to be deleted again. I also want it to be happened silently if possible. This machine will be used by multiple users. Is there such way to make it happened? Thanks!

  • I would use schedule task with elevated rights under SYSTEM account as a logon job. Use script that check if this registry setting exist and if this is true, delete it.

PS: This is nonstandard request. Perhaps there is better workaround taht depends on software in question.

  • Thanks. That key will not need to be deleted again at second time login and going forward so I concern schedule thing may delete it every time the key is re-created. I was thinking about having some kind of bat file for default users but I still can't figure it out.
