WSUS post install failed ImportDefaultDetectoids failed RRS feed

  • Greetings,

        I have a hyperV member server (server 2012 R2), vanilla install. I added the WSUS role and point to e:\WSUS as the storage location. During the post install phase it failed with the following in the log file:

    2015-05-16 08:07:22  Importing CriticalUpdates.xml...

    2015-05-16 08:07:32  Importing FeaturePacks.xml...
    2015-05-16 08:10:02  ImportDefaultDetectoids failed. Exception: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Timeout expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

  • Found the answer from Frant Trout in another thread:

    "I had a similar issue with the WSUS post-install failing, but I don't remember exactly what the error was. I actually had to open the IIS console and delete the WSUS Admin site and then run the post-install again."
