Failed to roll back the user from Unified contact store RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have Skype for Business 2015 & Exchange 2016 in Hybrid environment. Users' mailboxes already migrated onto Exchange Online and their Skype accounts are on-Premises.

When we tried to move their Skype accounts, we are getting error.

Move-CsUser: Rollback from Unified Contact Store failed for user: user@domain.com with exception: Failed to roll back the user from unified contact store mode as the contact list export from Exchange failed.

When i Issued "Invoke-CSUcsRollback" command, got "Failed to roll back the user from unified contact store mode as the contact list export from Exchange failed"

Any suggestion to Move users successfully is much appreciated.

  • Hi Tek-Nerd!

Does this issue persist on all on-premise users?

According to your description, we recommend you try to disable UCS per user via your on-premise Lync Server before moving. You could run the following command:

    Set-CsUserServicePolicy -Identity Global -UcsAllowed $False

Also please make sure if you created the other CSUserServicePolicy which allowed UCS for specific users.

To my knowledge, UCS is enabled by default on Skype for Business 2015. And even for Skype for Business Hybrid, Unified Contact Store is supported only for Skype for Business Online users in the hybrid deployment. For more details, you can refer to:

  • Thank You Jimmy,

Unfortunately we have to use -Force to rollback UCS for Exchange Online users and then migrate users onto Teams only.

  • Hi Tek-Nerd!

    Thanks for your feedback!

Do you mean you run the command "Invoke-CSUcsRollback -Force" to solve this issue?
