Firefox and Google Chrome RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way to allow google chrome and firefox to work with the search server 2010? The search page loads fine and searches but if you try to open a document from either one of those browsers nothing happens. Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

    thank you

  • Hi,

According to your post, my understanding is that when you tried to open a document from FireFox or google Chrome.

For any third-party browser (including Google Chrome, Firefox, Apple Safari, etc.), SharePoint server 2010 will support the latest publically released version.

As a workaround, you can use the Chrome extension IE Tab .

It has the ability to auto-detect URLs so whenever we browse to our SharePoint it emulates Internet Explorer. Finally we can open Office documents directly from Chrome.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi,

Pls check whether you have the necessary security enabled in the browser. Check for popup blocker etc. Actually when you click on the firefox or chrome it will prompt the save dialog if it is not prompting then there should be some security blocker.

Also try opening the search results link in a separate Tab or window and check whether you are getting the save dialog.
